Dog surgery

My week hasn't gone as planned.  This is my oldest son's Spring Break.  This is the last Spring Break for him, since he is scheduled to graduate in May from college.  Instead of shopping, stitching and watching movies, we, instead spent most of the week at different vets with our oldest dog.  Seems our oldest dog, Padfoot (named for a character in Harry Potter, which we were reading at the time) has a polyp just inside her colon, that is causing some problems.  We spent Tuesday afternoon at our regular vets office, then, spent Wednesday afternoon at the specialist vet hospital, trying to figure out what needed to be done.

This morning, we took her in for surgery to remove the polyp.  When I started this post, we didn't know when she would get her surgery, and how things would go.  As I was typing, the phone rang.  The vet called to say that they got all of the polyp, and, that Padfoot is just starting to wake up.  We won't get to pick her up until late this afternoon, but, at least we know she is recovering.

Padfoot is not a young dog, she is 12.5 years old.  We were worried about her age, and how much we should do.  She never showed any distress to us, we discovered this ourselves in the past week.

Sorry this post isn't sewing/quilting related.  I have gotten some sewing done this week, but, my concentration levels haven't been good, so, my blocks have taken me longer than they should.  I'm planning on spending a lot of today up in my sewing room, since oldest son has stuff he needs to get done, too.  I'll have progress to show you at the end of the month (can you believe that this month is almost over already?).

  1. I'm so glad Padfoot is recovering and that you are taking such great care of her. The sewing will still be there when Padfoot is home.

  5. All our "children" are important. As June says, sewing can wait. Nikko would like to send Padfoot some of her excess energy.

  6. Glad she is doing well. You have a lot going on so not surprised it's hard to focus on quilting. 12.5 is pretty old for a dog but I saw a video of a dachshund over 20...dogs get better with age so I would love to have one live that long!
